Gaming machine advertising

Other related content

By law, you cannot advertise gaming machines outside of a gaming machine area or boundaries of a casino.

Your obligations

By law, you cannot release any advertising that promotes gaming machines.

This includes:

  • on your website or associated social media
  • on TV, radio, video, cinema, the internet, print and direct marketing
  • in promotional material such as club journals, brochures or flyers.

You also can not use a third-party, like a production company or agent, to publish gaming machine advertising on their website, or on TV or radio, on your behalf.

These are your advertising obligations. Exterior signage is also restricted but has different rules. Signage drawing attention to or using terms associated with gaming machines is prohibited. There are only two forms of signage allowed if they meet specific criteria.

Building signage

Gambling regulations permit the display of a gaming machine-related sign on the exterior of an approved venue with restrictions.

Directional signage

Gambling regulations also permit directional signage inside, at entrances or at any entrance to a car park used primarily by patrons of an approved venue.
