Trading hours
Gaming rooms within Victorian venues can only operate between 10 am and 4 am, and in line with hours specified in their liquor licence.
Additional restrictions may apply on certain public holidays including Good Friday, Christmas Day and ANZAC Day.
These restrictions will appear on your liquor licence and will affect when your gaming room can operate poker machines.
You must always comply with the conditions on your liquor licence when determining permitted trading hours.

Trading hours on ANZAC Day
Special conditions apply to liquor trading hours on ANZAC Day, which will affect when gaming machines can operate.
Because licence conditions vary, there is no single set of trading hours that applies to all venues.
You must check your licence carefully to understand how ANZAC Day restrictions apply to your venue.
In general:
- Many licences restrict trading before 12 noon on ANZAC Day, unless an exemption applies
- Some licences include specific ANZAC Day conditions, which override standard liquor licence hours
If your licence includes specific conditions for ANZAC Day against your standard liquor licence hours, those conditions must be followed.
If your licence does not include specific ANZAC Day conditions (other than the 12 noon restriction), your ordinary trading hours may apply.
Some licence categories are exempt from the requirement not to trade before 12 noon (for example, certain RSL Sub-Branches).
You should check the conditions on your licence carefully.
