VGCCC presents at 2024 Regulating the Game conference

Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) staff attended the recent 2024 Regulating the Game conference, bringing together industry, regulators, government, advocacy groups, academics and community agencies.

VGCCC Director Gambling, Glorija Kuzman, presented the VGCCC’s Regulatory Update that reflected on the last 12-18 months, as well as our clear expectations of industry to not only meet their legal obligations but deliver on their social licence.

Glorija provided an overview of  activities and intelligence-led regulation used to hold industry to account. Our new regulatory posture has played a pivotal role facilitating successful prosecutions of industry stakeholders found engaging in misconduct or unethical behaviour.

Glorija explained that while the VGCCC regulates industry, we also regulate for the community, and this was evident through the various case studies used throughout the presentation.  She reminded industry that they have a duty to actively protect the community by promoting responsible gambling practices and implementing harm minimisation strategies.
