A gaming venue’s Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct (Code) requires all staff to:
- observe and interact with customers to prevent and minimise gambling harm
- record interactions (and other relevant matters) in a Responsible Gambling Register (register).
Maintaining a register is how venues demonstrate they have implemented their Code.
The VGCCC has produced guidance material(opens in a new window) on maintaining a compliant register and our expectations, along with an example of what a compliant register should look like.
A properly maintained register would demonstrate to VGCCC inspectors that a venue is:
- monitoring the gaming area
- identifying potential gambling harm
- interacting with customers
- performing intervention actions
- recording details as required by the Ministerial Direction and the Code of Conduct(opens in a new window).
We encourage venue operators to share the guidance with staff, and ensure they understand what is expected of them when working in a gaming venue.
The Responsible Gambling Register must be maintained and produced to inspectors on request.
