The VGCCC has strengthened account protections for player funds held in cashless wallets/accounts. The AAVR has been amended to ensure that any money held in a cashless wallet by a venue operator must:

  • be kept separate from other funds or accounts held or maintained by the venue operator
  • be stored in a bank account that is solely used to manage cashless wallet balances
  • not be used for any other purpose.

Venue operators must not allow a person to open more than one cashless wallet with them at any given time.

Venues should be aware of and comply with these and other account requirements in the AAVR when providing a cashless wallet facility for customers.

For more information, please see ‘Maintaining cashless wallet balances’ in section 2.4 of the AAVR, available from 1 July.
