Know your obligations around facilities at your venue.

Under the Gambling Regulations Act 2003, customers must be able to access facilities without entering the gaming machine area.

A facility refers to a ‘place, amenity, or piece of equipment provided for a particular purpose’.

For example, customers must be able to access toilets without needing to enter the gaming machine area. This also applies to entrances and exits – access to a venue must be provided without being required to enter or exit via the gaming machine area.

You can provide facilities in the gaming machine area, but there must also be a facility of the same type provided outside of the gaming machine area.

For example, a cigarette vending machine, a food and/or beverage vending machine or even a Lucky Envelope machine.

Remember, cash facilities are strictly regulated and can’t be located within the gaming machine area.
