The Victorian Government is committed to working with the community, industry, employers, and employees to prevent and address problem gambling, and to foster responsible gambling.
On 1 July 2012, the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation (the Foundation) was established as an independent statutory authority, under the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation Act 2011.
The Foundation is responsible for the non-policy functions delivered by the Department of Justice & Regulation's former Office of Gaming and Racing, (now the Victorian Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing).
The Foundation will also provide community information on responsible gambling through the Gambling Information Resource Office.

The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation (the Foundation) has launched a youth engagement strategy to put the spotlight on gambling and young people. Gambling's not a game aims to engage young people, parents, schools, sporting clubs and the wider community about the influence that gambling has on young people through sport, social media, online games and advertising.

It is the responsibility of the venue operator to adopt a self-exclusion program. The self-exclusion program should be easy for customers to understand, is publicised in a clear manner, protects the privacy and dignity of the customers, and demonstrates links with a problem gambling service.
Certain gambling operators are required to have a code of conduct.
